WednesDIY

I’m not the craftiest person in the world, but I fell in love with decorated magazine files from The Cottage Home and Apartment Therapy. How difficult could it be?

A little Mod Podge, some scrapbook paper, and some gently used cardboard magazine files might make something excellent for my new office space.

This project was much more time-consuming than I expected. Either that, or I am much less crafty than I expected. But, the end result is quite nice!

I can’t wait to put my books in here!

NO! Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Walls have layers.

Living Room – BEFORE

I apologize for the terrible quality of this photo…. we started working on the living room so soon after possession that this is the only true “before” picture I have of this room.  Note the dark brown ceiling, stained carpet, sponge-painted wall and overall beige-ness. Have no fear! When we’re done with this room, none of those features will remain.

The very first thing we did when we got in the house was get rid of that awful sponge paint. Not only was it painted this lovely faux finish, it was covering up some equally lovely metallic wallpaper. Covering up instead of replacing is a recurring theme in this house… They must have used tons of glue when putting up the wallpaper in the first place, because we’re still picking off pieces of glue 2 months later.

New colour scheme:

All walls will be done in Misty Surf, and all trim and ceiling in Popped Corn. New crown molding will complete the look someday soon.

Welcome!

Old house, new look. Join me as we renovate our first home together. Built in 1921 with only 712 sq. ft, our bungalow is undergoing quite the transformation! One of the house’s unique features is this built-in milkbox. Old purpose: home dairy delivery. New purpose: inspiration for this blog’s title.
